The staff at Armidale’s Pembroke Tourist and Leisure Park is still celebrating following their naming as the best inland NSW caravan park at the Camping and Caravan Industry Awards last week. The award is a big boost for owners Chris and Sigrid Mitchell, who only took over Pembroke 13 months ago after selling their Moree wheat farm. Mr Mitchell said the award would not only help promote Pembroke, but the entire district, as a destination for tourists. “It was fantastic to win - a real buzz,” he said.
“We believe that the district as a whole, as well as us commercially, will benefit from the knowledge that the best caravan park inland NSW is here in Armidale. “It means a lot to both myself and Sigrid, but it was also a team effort and I would like to thank all of our staff who have helped us through the last 12 months. “I’d also like to thank the other businesses we deal with and our suppliers, who’ve made life easier for us.” Mr Mitchell also paid tribute to the efforts of Kerry Lockeridge, who prepared Pembroke’s award nomination.
